Mixxx 1.11.0 Is Here!

The wait is finally over. After over a year of hard work, the Mixxx development team is pleased to present Mixxx 1.11.0!
Available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.

Here's the skinny on all the new features in Mixxx 1.11.0:
  • Colored, 3-band Waveforms
    • Don't miss a beat. These waveforms make every kick, snare, and thumping beat stand out.
  • Brand New Beat Detector
    • With a brand new beat detection system based on the latest academic research at Queen Mary University, Mixxx's beat detection is now deadly accurate. This means your loops, hotcues, and beatsyncing will be spot-on.
  • HID and Bulk Controller Support
    • Mixxx now supports non-MIDI devices using its powerful scripting system.
    • Mixxx 1.11.0 comes with HID presets for the following devices:
      • EKS Otus
      • Traktor Kontrol F1
      • Hercules DJ Console Mk1

    • Whether you need to report your setlists to ASCAP or just remember the tracks you played last night, the new Session History feature keeps track of every tune you drop so that you don't have to.
  • Beatloop Rolls
    • This stunning new effect works just like a beatloop except when you release the button the deck jumps to where it would have been if you hadn't started the loop. Try it out by right-clicking on a beat-loop button.
  • Preview Deck
    • A highly-requested feature, the new preview deck allows you to preview tracks in your headphones without having to load them into a main deck. Just click preview on any track in the library and it will start to play in your headphones.
  • Advanced Search
    • The library search box received some much-needed love. Try out these example queries:
      • bpm:100-120 rating:>4
        • All tracks between 100 and 120BPM with rating greater than 4.
      • artist:"Aphex Twin"
        • All tracks with "Aphex Twin" in the artist column.
      • genre:electro bpm:>115
        • All Electro tracks with BPM greater than 115.

  1. Simply the best open source software project. It's impressive what you all accomplish.

  2. I really hope the time code response is better, it was the only thing keeping me from replacing traktor pro with mixxx when I dj'ed with a digital medium. I still respect the heck out of you guys for the generosity and dedication anyway! congratulations, I'll try it out carefully.

  3. Hi Ka§par,

Tuning your setup for good vinyl control performance with Mixxx can be tricky. We just wrote a chapter in the manual about it. Check it out!

    http://mixxx.org/manual/1.11/chapters/vinyl_control.html

Also, see the section on latency and sound API -- those are also very important for getting good performance out of Mixxx.

  4. I've started playing as a selektor in a number of events in my town. I've been gradually moving to open-source software in my life in general. I could never thank enough you guys in the Mixxx team. Can't wait to try out this version!

  5. I've been at it for a few hours trying to make it.

When spinning timecodes faster (forward or backward), the cursor keeps going at the same speed, regardless of buffer size. It's the same problem I found with previous versions, unfortunately.

I wish I could program so I could help out, instead of diagnosing problems. I've been using traktor MK1, are the results any better with Serato discs?

I saw Mixxx uses Xwax to engage the timecode signal... I've seen very impressive videos where trick mixing and juggling is easy as it ever was with Xwax, with amazing response.

Do you think this will ever match true Xwax on linux performance? that'd be it for me...

As it stands, unfortunately, Mixxx on timecode needs a generous soul who can make it more sensible to spin speed and detail of timecode.

I've been excited about mixxx for years, but still eagerly awaiting the community deliver a finalized product that can be used at comparable level to other commercial programs, I really wish I could use it, but I just can't perform well enough as is, and this is all I do.

thanks for the time, and all the best!

  7. Ka§par, if you send me an email at owilliams @ mixxx dot org I can help you get timecode working. I use it to DJ and when set up correctly it definitely doesn't act as you describe.

just started to use mixxx +BCD2000 + code vinyl. It works very well.Congratulations

What I'm really missing is a 'live input mode' so I could also mix my 'real' vinyls

AS fas I know this fearure is not implemented

Any chance of having it in a near future?
In the meanwhile,Is there any trick to make it work in current version (using the mic input f.e.)?

  17. Hi team!
Great job, however... I have a "little" (I think) trouble:

Today, I installed Mixxx directly from Synaptics, so I have the 1.10.0 release.

Then, I saw "Download Mixxx 1.11.0 for Ubuntu adding the PPA..."
I uninstalled Mixxx 1.10.0, then I added the PPAs that you list at http://www.mixxx.org/download.php
    And I made
    $ sudo apt-get install mixxx libportaudio2
    $ sudo apt-get update
on my console and I can't have Mixxx 1.11.0 on my Linux Mint 13 MAYA (I still have Mixxx 1.10.0 :(

    Any further help... please?

Thank you at all, best regards,

    Richy

  18. Sorry, it's me again...
    The solution:

    $ sudo upgrade all

After that, restart the machine... And Mixxx 1.11.0 will be available to download and update via updates manager,

You are the best, keep in touch with me for updating the Spanish translation,

  20. I discovered Mixxx just today, even though I am not that into DJ'ing, my older brother is and I have been trying to get him to install a linux distro on his aging laptop, now that I know about Mixxx as a free alternative to Traktor, I might actually stand a chance. Thanks! And awesome, awesome work guys, I can't believe that this program is completely free!

    :)

  25. Great software. I have used the 1.11Beta version for a party, and this was great.
Could someone please explain how to proceed with upgrading to the release version?
    - do I need to first uninstall the beta? and what happens with crates/playlists?
    - or can I just install the release version over the beta?

    Thank you for your feedback.
    PK

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hey PK, you should be able to install the 1.11 final version over the beta with no problems. Your library should be intact.
    Thanks!
    Albert

  27. Hey there.
Why it doesnt work @ ubuntu 13.10?
After importing library and rhythmbox, no track is loading at all, on any deck.

    What's wrong here?

    Thank you.

  38. Playing around with version 1.10.1 on linux mint, the third day some functions don't work anymore, (language german):
    Kurzlinks-
    Arbeitsfläche
    Ordner (folder)
    Ordner (folder/album)
and then there are in the right window the tracks and there I can click on the tracks and then
    1. Zur AutoDJ Warteschlange hinzugen
    2. Zur Wiedergabeliste hinzufügen
    3. Zur Kiste hinzufügen
    do NOT work.
This means, by some tracks it works, by some tracks it does not.
Is that fixed in the new version?

    by the way:
I typed in this little window, then I clicked on publish, then I logged in my google-account ... then the text was in nirvana, thats why again but a short text and anonym.
